Ashwood Rockstock

Come here to stock up on agate, jasper, thundereggs, and wood.

 !  Notice to all rockhounds.

Ashwood, Oregon (thirty miles northeast of Madras) is well-known for its agate beds, which include Friend Eggs, Friend Green Moss, Friend Apple Agate, Marston Multi-colored Wood Replacement, and McDonald Wood.

Some of these beds are open for digging all year, provided the weather permits access. All are located on working ranches so arrangements must be made in advance and a minimum purchase may be required.

For information, or to make an appointment, contact the landowner of the bed you wish to visit.

AREA RANCHER PASSES

Darrell Friend, owner of the Friend Ranch, went home to be with his Lord on January 29, 2009. He has battled heart problems for the past eight years. His condition worsened early last year, improved some during the summer months, and then became worse again last fall.

After twelve days in the hospital in November, he stabilized enough to return to his home the Monday before Thanksgiving. He remained there under the care of his wife, family, and weekly visits from a Hospice nurse.

He will be greatly missed.
